Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, embodies the boundless love and empathy of all the Buddhas. In his four-armed form, he is depicted with his principal hands joined at the heart in anjali mudra, symbolizing the union of wisdom and compassion. His upper hands hold a crystal rosary and a lotus flower, representing his continuous activity for the benefit of all beings and the purity of awakened wisdom.

This statue has been crafted with a refined sense of simplicity, allowing the form itself to take prominence. The engravings along the robe and ornaments are subtle and restrained, creating an elegant balance without overwhelming the composition. The dark finish of the robes contrasts beautifully with the warm brown tones of the body, while turquoise inlays add delicate accents throughout the piece.

The face has been carefully hand-painted with 24k gold, bringing warmth, serenity, and life to Avalokiteshvara’s expression. His gentle gaze and peaceful presence make this statue a meaningful support for the recitation of Om Mani Padme Hum, meditation, and the cultivation of compassion. Handcrafted in Patan, Nepal, it reflects both the spiritual significance of the deity and the enduring artistry of the Newar tradition.
