Mahakala is regarded as a ‘Dharmapala’ when it comes to practice of Vajrayana Buddhism. In his six-armed form, Mahakala is considered to be an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. This statue has been crafted with utmost care and precision. The carving and detailing work on this has been executed to perfection. 24k gold has been gilded partly on select parts of the statue. His body has been finished in blackish color, emulating his fierce black color of his iconography. Antique finishing has also been applied to give a timeless radiance. The face has been painted excellently, radiating his fierce countenance that allows the practitioners to bask in his formidable energy.
