This 9-inch White Tara statue is crafted in copper, partly gilded with 24k gold, and finished in a two-toned antique style that blends deep black with soft brownish tones. The gentle contrast between the gold and darker shades brings clarity to her form and draws the eye to the intricate details of her adornments and robes.
White Tara, the embodiment of long life and serene compassion, is depicted seated in full lotus posture. Her right hand rests in the gesture of generosity, while her left hand holds the stem of an utpala lotus that blooms beside her shoulder. Her seven eyes — on her face, palms, and soles — are finely painted, each symbolizing her ever-watchful awareness of the needs of sentient beings.
The antique finish softens the gold into a warm, matte tone, allowing practitioners to gaze without distraction. The engravings are crisp and harmonious, with balanced depth along the robe’s borders and gentle engraving across the fabric’s expanse. The face has been skillfully painted with 24k gold, while the eyes and lips have been applied with flawless precision, giving her a compassionate yet vigilant expression.
For Dharma practitioners, this statue is a reminder to nurture both inner and outer well-being, to cultivate wisdom that sustains life, and to practice with the steadfast gentleness that White Tara represents. Made in Patan, Nepal, it follows the refined proportions and iconography of the Newar Buddhist tradition.
