This 9-inch Amitayus statue is skillfully crafted from copper, partly gilded with 24k gold, and finished in a two-toned antique style that combines deep black with warm brownish hues. The interplay between gold and darker tones gives the piece a timeless presence, inviting steady contemplation.
Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life, is portrayed seated in full lotus posture upon a double lotus base. In his hands, resting in meditation mudra, he holds a kalasha (vase) containing the nectar of immortality — the elixir that dispels obstacles, heals, and extends life for the benefit of all beings.
The antique gold finish softens the gilding into a gentle matte glow, easy on the eyes during practice. Every detail of the engraving has been executed with care: deep, defined borders on the robe contrast with delicate, light-depth leaf motifs across the garment. The face has been beautifully painted with 24k gold, while the eyes and lips are rendered with smooth, precise strokes, giving Amitayus a tranquil and compassionate gaze.
For Dharma practitioners, this statue is a profound support for long-life prayers, Amitayus sadhana, and the cultivation of merit dedicated to the welfare of all. Made in Patan, Nepal, it embodies the mastery of Newar craftsmanship passed down through generations.
