Amitabha Buddha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, is revered within Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism and is closely associated with the Pure Land tradition. This statue has been crafted as a support for Amitabha practice, with a calm and meditative presence reflected in both its form and detailed workmanship.
The statue features carefully carved motifs across the robe and lower garments, with each pattern worked with clear definition and depth. The fine engraving follows the flowing form of the robes, giving the otherwise serene figure a sense of richness without overwhelming its simplicity.
The entire statue is fully gilded with 24k gold and given an antique finish, bringing out the depth of the carved motifs while giving the surface a warm, aged character. The face is painted with 24k gold and finished with clean, precise detailing, giving Amitabha a gentle and composed expression.
